Online Fiction – Summer Edition

We’re back! Though there has been a hiatus between posts, I’m on board now to keep you updated on short fiction online more regularly–I may even throw in a print story or two if it catches my eye. Over the summer, there were plenty of stories published by women authors–Helix even did an entire issue with an all-female roster, as did Ideomancer in their June 07 issue.

I’ve decided to include EscapePod in my roundup, though most of the stories are reprints of older stories and are thus ineligible for many awards. I wouldn’t want you to miss Nancy Kress’s “Ej-Es” just because it can’t win a Hugo this year. Have you ever listened to a podcast or a book on CD and thought about how some things to not translate well to audio? This is the opposite. I’m not sure which one gave me more chills, Kress’s words or Sheri Mann Stewarts voice as she read it.

Other favorites include Screamers by Yoon Ha Lee and 29 Union Leaders Can’t Be Wrong by Genevieve Valentine.
